 History of Lake Texoma

While you’re driving down to see us, we thought we’d help pass the time with a good read about the history of the lake you’ll be fishing on. Lake Texoma is a man-made lake and built by the United States of Army Corps of Engineers. Completed in 1944, Lake Texoma is an 89,000-acre lake and is considered to be one of the best vacation spots in the United States. It’s estimated that between 6 to 8 million people visit the lake annually! One of the reasons it’s so highly vacationed is because of the fishery that it offers.

Lake Texoma offers a wide range of species of fish including, crappie, bluegill, catfish and of course, striper! What makes this lake so fascinating is the fact that it’s one of the lone reservoirs where striper naturally reproduce since they are native to ocean waters. With plenty of striper to go around for the whole family, it’s time if you have not already to book a trip with Gator’s Guide Service and experience what this fishery has to offer!

Lake Texoma Guided Fishing

Lake Texoma

"My friend Gator is a good guy and a better fisherman! A fishing trip is always better with a guide who knows the lake and knows every fishing trick in the book. If you've never fished with somebody who knows the lake inside and out and knows every trick in the book to get a fish on the line, you've got to try it. Makes the whole trip so effortless and enjoyable."
